Patent Status:

Patent Pending

Brief Description:

Garage Storage System provides individuals with efficient means to store various items on the wall of a garage in assorted configurations to fit each user’s specific need.  The System can also be used in closets, tool rooms, and any other location requiring efficient means to store various items on the wall and/or ceiling.

Purpose of the Invention:

The Garage Storage System is an arrangement of components that work together to give individuals an adjustable and easy to use way to store and organize numerous items on the walls of a garage.  This unique product can assist users in keeping their possessions free of damage in an aesthetically pleasing manner where the items can be easily accessed as desired.  This innovative item is ideal for residential, industrial and commercial use.  Homeowners can utilize the system in closets, kitchens and basements in order to store multiple objects in a neat and novel manner.  Retail stores, art galleries and other similar establishments can use this extraordinary product to display goods as well as house their inventories.  Users will enjoy being able to customize the interchangeable unit to fit their individual needs whether it be storing sporting equipment, camping accessories, tools, bikes or other objects typically stored in garages and basements.

Problem[s] the Invention Solves:

Traditional wall-mounted storage units can be unattractive and can also permanently damage walls.  When the unit is no longer desired, users must take time to fill these holes or leave them, much to their dismay and that of the building’s future occupants.  Once these standard systems are in place, it is impossible to reconfigure them to fit the user’s individual needs.  Some may need to adjust the arrangement at different times to house seasonal objects or when additional tools or equipment are purchased.  Items amassed on these standard units may not be transportable.  One may have to completely remove the item from the wall in order to use it. Some may desire a simpler way to move an entire storage section with them to perform tasks. Having an adjustable device that can easily be reconfigured by users to fit their personal needs without damaging their walls may assist more individuals in easily organizing and storing many of their belongings traditionally housed within a garage.

Detailed Description of the Invention:

Garage Storage System allows individuals to easily and systematically hang various objects on a wall in multiple configurations. This first component may be a track of various lengths that is adhered to one’s wall via heavy-duty fasteners. Verticals can easily be slid into the ends of the track and be manipulated and locked into place by a predetermined means as desired by the user. Mounting blocks may have the capability to accept various hooks and plug-in attachments to aid in the storage of assorted items, such as shovels, rakes, sporting equipment and similar items. Mounting blocks may lock and/or release horizontal rods that can be utilized with pegboards, grids and other attachments. Blocks may have the ability to slide up, down, left and right. The rails may be designed to mount directly to the stud interface before and after drywall is installed. Rails may capture one end of the ceiling drywall and one end on the wall. This may increase the strength of the home and ensure rails are mounted into studs. Only one rail in the system may have to be leveled. The assembly can be moved on the vertical member and locked into place at any given vertical location. This item may be produced as a kit including a horizontal rail, three verticals and several mounting blocks. Attachments may be sold separately. This item may be produced from metal, plastic, a combination of the two or by other durable materials. Various sizes may be produced to accommodate user preferences. The exact dimensions, materials used for construction and method of operation of Garage Storage System may vary upon manufacturing.

  1. Interesting idea. Monkey Bars tackles the same issues that you are working on and we at Gorgeous Garage of East Texas are pleased that it is unique enough to be patented. The multiple layering of hanging items makes for efficient use of the wall storage space. What is the status on your pending patent?

      Hi Shain,
We have several patents pending and the product should launch in the near term. Thanks for asking. I like your approach, the garage storage system is a very large market and ripe for new products. We will be launching some very cool products.
      Regards, Andrew

  2. BEN LEWIS

Hello, my name is Ben. I am in the process of organing/painting my garage. I like the gridwall idea. I actually bought some gridwall on http://www.gridwall.com. But I had an idea as to mount it much like what you did on a tracking system. My question is where or how did you make the tracking system so you can slide the gridwall around. It would be greatly appreciated if you let me know. It has been buging me and I have been doing a lot of research. I am in the U.S. Coast Guard here in Los Angeles, CA so you can also email me here- Ben.e.lewis@uscg.mil or a call would be great as well. (559) 367-9456. Thank you for any help you can give me.

      Hi Ben,

We used the Unistrut rail and roller bearings for the prototype. The prototype system was expensive, the product we will be launching is inexpensive. I appologize but the final design is under wraps until we start sales. I’ll keep you posted.

      Andrew
